DENR, MGB-6 ADVISORY ON TYPHOON “INENG”

Based on PAG-ASA’s advisory at 11:00 am today, August 19, 2015, Typhoon Ineng was estimated based on all available data at  800 km East of Aparri, Cagayan or at 815 km East of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 180 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph. It is forecast to move West at 23 kph.

This typhoon is expected to be at 340 km East of Calayan, Cagayan tomorrow morning and will enhance Habagat currently affecting Palawan and Visayas until Monday morning, August 24, 2015.  Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 700 km diameter of the typhoon.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Region 6 warns that the typhoon may trigger landslides and floods in Western Visayas classified as susceptible to landslides and floods based on the Geohazard Maps, especially in areas that have experienced rainfall due to Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

The LGUs are advised to refer to the Geohazard Maps distributed to the respective municipalities/cities and take precautionary measures and possible evacuations if necessary.
